CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech swimming and diving teams finished out the regular season this afternoon with the second and final day of competition at the Virginia Tech Invitational. The H2Okie women took home three titles on the day, while the men earned an additional one. The H2Okies won every event in the competition in which they had a swimmer in the finals.
Rachel Sepanski started the evening off with her third title of the weekend, swimming the 100 free in 52.17, followed closely by Morgan Allen in second place. Michael Hallock then took home the gold in the men’s 100 free, swimming a 45.41, followed by Adam Skipper in second, Chris Verboncoeur in fourth and Garrett Hehn in fifth.
Natalie Leake went on to win the 100 breast, followed by a H2Okie gold in the 200 backstroke for Caroline Higgins. Danny Loftus represented Tech in the 200 breast (2:05.32) and 200 IM (2:01.28), while Ben Munster and Alex Lutterbein took part in the final race of the regular season, swimming the 1650 free in 16:03.58 and 15:58.46, respectively.
The 2010-11 season continues next Wednesday, February 16, as the team heads to the ACC Championships for women’s swimming and diving as well as men’s diving. Live coverage will be available on www.theacc.com.
