Divers represent H2Okies on day one at NCAAs

COLUMBUS, Ohio – After being delayed for 24 hours due to a sickness affecting many athletes at the 2010 NCAA Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships, divers Mikey McDonald and Logan Shinholser opened day one of the three-day tournament on Friday, competing in the one-meter event.

Neither McDonald nor Shinholser qualified for the finals in the event. McDonald earned 18th in the prelims with a score of 340.95, while Shinholser placed 33rd with a score of 274.70. The top-16 qualified for finals.

Texas, Cal and Florida sit in the top three spots, respectively, with 145, 139 and 118 points.

Charlie Higgins will compete in the 100 backstroke on Saturday, while McDonald and Shinholser will compete in the three-meter event. Preliminary action will start at noon, while finals will begin at 7 pm. Live results can be found here.
