Milton earns first-career ACC Athlete of Week honor
The diver is the second H2Okie to receive the honor this season

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Junior diver Sarah Milton was named the ACC Performer of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday, after her record-setting performance in the three-meter event on Saturday against Davidson.

The Plano, Texas, native dominated the three-meter event, taking first with a top score of 325.50, marking a new Virginia Tech school record. Her score was 32.55 points higher than the second-place finisher and ranks as the fourth-highest mark to date in the ACC this season. She followed that up with a runner-up performance in the one-meter event with a score of 272.18, marking her second-best finish of the season.

Milton’s efforts helped the 20th-ranked H2Okies defeat Davidson in their final home meet of the season, 134-100. The Tech women now stand at 6-2 overall and 2-2 in the ACC.

Milton is already an NCAA Zones qualifier in both events, which will take place March 12-14 in New Brunswick, N.J. She is the second Tech athlete to receive the conference’s award this season. Erika Hajnal earned the first one on Oct. 27.

The H2Okies will return to action on Saturday, Jan. 23, traveling to Atlanta, Ga., to compete against conference foes Georgia Tech and Florida State. The meet will begin at noon.
