Former Hokie competes at World Championships
Tayla has a great experience in Rome
Former Virginia Tech swimmer Kaan Tayla competed in two events at the recently concluded World Championships held in Rome. The native of Ankara, Turkey, competed in both the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle events. He finished 36th in the 50 free with a time of 22.57 seconds, which is a couple of tenths off his personal best, and he finished in 72nd position in the 100 free with a time of 50.62. That time is about a half second off his best.
Tayla, who departed from Tech in 2008, holds the career marks in both the 50 and 100 events at Tech.
