Parking Services announces parking plan for Friday events

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech Parking Services announced Tuesday parking options in conjunction with Friday’s Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame induction event at the Indoor Practice Facility and the Tech-Notre Dame men’s soccer match at Thompson Field.

A reception for the hall of fame event begins at 5 p.m., as five new members are inducted into the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame – a group that includes baseball player Tim Buheller, men’s basketball player Zabian Dowdell, softball player Megan Evans and football players Ben Taylor and Michael Vick. The men’s soccer game begins at 7 p.m.

Parking Services plans to close Lot 1 (Cassell Coliseum lot) at 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon. Those attending the hall of fame event may park in Lot 1 on a first-come, first-served basis provided they present their hall of fame ticket to the lot attendants.

Also, Lot 4 (softball field lot) will have limited reserve parking for those attending the hall of fame event. Attendees must present their hall of fame ticket to the lot attendants to enter. Department officials will be providing golf cart shuttle service for guests before and after the event.

All overflow parking for both the hall of fame event and the men’s soccer game may park in Lot 2 (Lane Stadium South End Zone lot). Department officials will be providing golf cart shuttle service for guests of the hall of fame event before and after the event.

In addition, Lots 5 (Chicken Hill lot) and 6 (Litton-Reaves lot) may be used for fans wishing to attend the men’s soccer game.

Those attending these events should expect high traffic volume throughout the evening. The two events kick off a busy weekend at Tech – one that also features the Hokies’ football game against Old Dominion on Saturday afternoon and a women’s soccer game against Florida State on Sunday afternoon.
