Hokie Club to launch new website
New site features a streamlined design with more user-friendly components

BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech Athletics Department and the Virginia Tech Athletic Fund – better known to Tech fans as the “Hokie Club” – announced today that the Hokie Club website will have a new look beginning July 1 with the launch of its recent redesign. The site will be more user-friendly, with a preview to the new Hokie Club store as well as an updated Student Hokie Club section.

Scott Hughes, an annual giving officer within the Hokie Club who also oversees the Student Hokie Club, coordinated redesign efforts.

“We were really looking to update our look,” Hughes said. “This site will be more user-friendly and really address some of the issues of the old site. It was a collaborative effort between the Hokie Club and the Athletics Department, and I would like to say thanks to Clark Ruhland for his help with the graphics, as well as Trey Frazier [annual giving officer] and Diana Adkins [alumni program coordinator] in our office. It couldn’t have been done without them.”

The new site also will integrate social media elements, pulling from Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. It will really be a one-stop spot for all current and future Hokie Club members with links to season tickets and hokiesports.com.

The site will keep some of its traditional elements. Those wishing to make contributions to Tech athletics can still make that contribution through the “Give Now” button at the top right-hand corner of the home page. Also, fans, donors, alumni, etc., can learn about the staff, giving levels, member benefits, parking and tickets, capital projects and more by clicking the tabs along the top of the home page.

The Hokie Club has been supporting Virginia Tech athletics since 1949. It will come under new leadership around July 15 when Bill Lansden comes aboard as the senior associate athletics director for development and executive director of the Hokie Club. Lansden takes the place of Lu Merritt, who retired June 30 after 21 years of leading the fundraising organization.
