Responsibilities: Hughes’ responsibilities include identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding annual gift prospects and donors to the Virginia Tech Athletic Fund. He is also in charge of the Student Hokie Club.

Joined VT Athletics Staff: 2014

At Virginia Tech: Hughes served as the Annual Giving Officer for University Development starting in January of 2013 until moving over to athletics in August of 2014.

Prior to Virginia Tech: Hughes was a college football coach at Glenville State (W.Va.) and Jacksonville University. He also has worked for the Walt Disney Company in Orlando, Florida, and was the high school outreach coordinator for Fortis College in Jacksonville, Florida.

Education: Virginia Tech, 2004 (B.A. in communications); Tiffin University (Ohio), 2013 (MBA in sports management).

Of Note: While at Virginia Tech from 2000-04, Hughes was a walk-on for the football team, playing quarterback, wide receiver, defensive back and special teams.

Personal: A native of Fairlawn, Virginia, Hughes lives with his wife, Courtney, in Christiansburg.
