The Tech athletics department held its annual All-Sports Banquet at the Squires Student Center on April 28
th and the department presented more than 100 awards to student-athletes and support group team members.
To start off the evening, Virginia Tech and the
ACC honored the "Top Six for Service." Each year, the ACC recognizes six outstanding student-athletes from each member institution who have demonstrated an exemplary service attitude and volunteered countless number of hours to benefit their community. The winners for Tech this year included
Jen Albrecht (volleyball),
Bryan Collier (men's soccer),
Scott King (football),
Mauri Liberati (women's soccer),
Ashley Owens (women's soccer), and
Grant Throckmorton (football).
Tech's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, or SAAC, selected a SAAC Member of the Year for the contributions made to this important student leadership organization in athletics. This year's recipients demonstrated outstanding leadership, and their peers have voted to recognize the contributions of two SAAC members during the past academic year. The two honored were Owens from the women's soccer team and Collier from the men's soccer team.
The athletics department also honored its All-Academic team, which includes individuals who have earned the highest calendar year grade-point average for their respective teams. The All-Academic team included

Also, the following student-athletes were named Scholar Athletes of the Year after earning a 4.0 grade-point average for the 2007 calendar year: Haskins, Beyer, Barney, Jones, Roca, Montgomery, Phillips, Caligiuri, Jansen and Albrecht.
The strength and conditioning staff then recognized one team member from each sport who demonstrated outstanding dedication in the weight room and in conditioning themselves for their competitive season. The winners included

Each team recognized a rookie of the year (which goes to the newcomer who made the biggest contribution), a coaches award winner (to the consummate team player), and a most valuable performer (which goes to the individual who made the greatest impact to the team's success).
