BLACKSBURG – The 39th-ranked Virginia Tech men’s tennis team is set to travel to Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts to take on Boston College in the Hokies’ first ACC road match of the season. Match time is set for noon on Sunday, March 13.
Virginia Tech (8-3, 1-1 ACC) is looking to bounce back after falling 6-1 to No. 2 Virginia the last time out. Tech’s Andreas Bjerrehus picked up the point for the Hokies, defeating second-ranked Thai-Son Kwiatkowski on court two.
The Hokies’ Joao Monteiro enters the match ranked 18th in the country with a 7-2 mark playing in the No. 1 singles this spring. Tech’s No. 59 Edoardo Tessaro is 4-2 in duals. Bjerrehus has a 7-1 mark in the No. 2 while Mitch Harper is 6-2 and Jai Corbett 6-3. Amerigo Contini has posted a 5-3 record in the No. 3.
In doubles Monteiro and Bjerrehus have teamed up for a 6-1 record in the No. 1 and are ranked 21st nationally.
Boston College (3-7, 0-2 ACC) dropped a 7-0 decision at Wake Forest the last time out. Leading the Eagles are Alexandre Thirouin with a 5-4 record, Will Turner with a 4-4 mark and Hank Workman at 3-6.
