TULSA, Okla. – Seniors Joao Monteiro and Andreas Bjerrehus recorded a big win in doubles on Saturday at the 2015 ITA All-American Tennis Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The Tech duo continues its strong play, knocking off the third ranked doubles tandem in the country during the quarterfinals. Bjerrehus and Monteiro took down Texas Tech’s duo of Felipe Soares and Hugo Dojas. After giving up the first set, 6-3, Bjerrehus and Monteiro rallied back to win the next one 6-2. In the tiebreak, the Tech duo rolled, winning 10-5.
In singles, Tessaro picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win over San Diego State’s Hendrik Jebens in his first match of the day. In the second match Tessaro squared off against 44th-ranked Stefan Lindmark of Ole Miss. Winning the first set 6-3, Tessaro was edged in the second 7-6(9). The Ole Miss player secured the win 6-2 in the third.
The Hokies will wrap up doubles on Sunday in Tulsa with both the semifinals and finals schedule to be played.
