TULSA, Okla. – The Virginia Tech men’s tennis team continues in the field at the 2015 ITA Men’s All-American at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Tech’s 109th-ranked Edoardo Tessaro picked up a big win on Friday in the consolation draw of singles, knocking off Florida’s 33rd-ranked Diego Hidalgo. Tessaro fell behind, losing the first set 6-2, but came back strong to win the next two sets in decisive fashion, 6-2, 6-3.
In doubles action, Andreas Bjerrehus and Joao Monteiro got the lucky loser bid coming out of the qualifying doubles rounds to move into the main draw consolation. The Tech duo made the most of its opportunity, winning in the first round 7-5(6), 6-4 over Texas A&M’s Jordi Arconada and Max Lunkin.
The Hokies will be back on the court tomorrow in Tulsa.
