BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech men’s tennis team will send five of its members to the ITA All-American Championship, beginning with the pre-qualifying rounds on Saturday, Oct. 3 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Aaron Gomez will represent the Hokies in the first rounds of the event starting tomorrow. The qualifying rounds will run Oct. 5-7 with Joao Monteiro and Edoardo Tessaro taking the court. Tech’s Andreas Bjerrehus and Amerigo Contini are slated for the main draw, Oct. 8-12.
Monteiro will pair up with Bjerrehus in the qualifying round of doubles, starting Monday. Oct. 5.
Bjerrehus, Contini, Monteiro and Tessaro enter the field ranked in the preseason ITA standings. Bjerrehus is ranked 28th while Contini is tabbed 43rd. Monteiro comes in at 70th and Tessaro at 109th.
