ATHENS, Ga. – The Virginia Tech men’s tennis team wraps up the 48th Annual Southern Intercollegiate Championships on Sunday at the Dan Magill Tennis Center in Athens, Ga.
Tech’s Aaron Gomez claimed a win on Sunday in the consolation draw of the Division II singles flight. After dropping in the opening set, 6-1, Gomez rallied back to win the next two 6-3, 1-0(7).
In the Division I singles quarterfinals, Tech’s fifth-seeded Amerigo Contini fell to top-seeded Wayne Montgomery of UGA, 6-0, 6-2. The Hokies seventh-seeded Joao Monteiro faltered against third-seeded Christopher Eubanks of Georgia Tech 7-6, 6-3 while Edoardo Tessaro gave up a 7-6, 6-3 decision to Georgia’s Paul Oosterbaan.
The Hokies will be back on the court next weekend, splitting up to compete at both the Ivy Plus and the UVA Ranked +1.
