BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech men’s soccer team fell to No. 4 North Carolina 4-0 Sunday afternoon at Thompson Field. The result moves the Hokies to 7-8 and 2-5 in ACC play.
Ten seniors; Morten Lamps, Matt Dudon, Drew Ott, Rodrigo Zampieri, Forrest White, Gino Rossi, Elias Tamburini, Marcelo Acuna, Ben Lundgaard and Collin Verfurth were honored for their contributions to the program prior to kick off.
North Carolina improved to 13-2-1 on the season and 5-1-1 in the conference, the best mark in the Coastal Division.
The Heels hit the back of the net four times in the second half, including twice in a one-minute stretch to put the fame out of reach. Zach Wright, Raul Aguilera, Mauricio Pineda and Cam Lindley each had one tally on the afternoon.
Carolina outshot the Hokies 19-7 and earned seven more corner kicks (10-3).
Ben Lundgaard and Morten Lamps combined to make five saves in goal for the Hokies.
