Virginia Tech at Miami Game Notes

Virginia Tech opens the 2013-14 ACC season at Miami on Sunday afternoon. The Hokies and the defending ACC champion Hurricanes tip-off at 12:30 p.m. in the BankUnited Center. The game will be televised live by ESPNU.

The Hokies are 6-3 on the season.

The Hurricanes are 5-4 after a 60-49 loss at Nebraska on Wednesday night.

Miami leads the all-time series, 13-10.

This is the ACC opener for both teams.

VT 81, Winthrop 63

The short-handed Hokies defeated Winthrop, 81-63, on Tuesday night in Cassell Coliseum.

Jarell Eddie scored a career-high 34 points in the win, whil C.J. Barksdale added 13 points.

Tech played without its second and third leading scorers, Adam Smith and Ben Emelogu, out due to injuries.

Eddie Records Career-High

Jarell Eddie scored a career-high 34 points in the win over Winthrop. He also tied a career-high with six three-point baskets.

Eddie’s 34 points is the second-highest point total by an ACC player this season.

Wilson Ties a Record

Devin Wilson recorded a career-high 11 assists in the win over Furman, tying Dell Curry’s Virginia Tech freshman record for assists in a game.

So far this season, 10 different Hokies have recorded at least 10 points or more in a game.

Tech will take two weeks off due to exams before returning to action on Sat., Dec. 21 in the Richmond Coliseum against VCU in the Governor’s Holiday Hoops Classic.
