VIP VISITORS

CHARLOT TE MOTOR SPEEDWAY

Frank Beamer and Bud Foster have attended many NASCAR races over the years and developed a strong bond with many racing families. In 2000,

Elliott Sadler drove a Wood Brothers Racing car with a Virginia Tech paint scheme in Richmond. In 2016, the Wood Brothers unveiled their No. 21

Virginia Tech paint scheme on the Tech practice field in anticipation of races at Bristol and Martinsville. NASCAR drivers Ty Dillion and Jeb Burton (son

of 2004 Daytona 500 winner Ward Burton) have also visited Blacksburg in recent years.

As part of Virginia Tech’s trip to the 2016 Belk Bowl, the Hokies visited Charlotte Motor Speedway, where the team participated in ridealongs with

NASCAR drivers. The window egress proved tricky for some of the squad’s larger players like Tim Settle, who eventually got into the passenger’s seat.

The team also visited the NASCAR Hall of Fame while in Charlotte.
