BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Virginia Tech men’s and women’s cross country teams finished up their home meets for the season with the Hokie Open at the Buford Meredith Cross Country Course on Friday evening.
In the men’s 6K race, Thomas Curtin, competing unattached, was the overall top finisher with a time of 18:28.80. George Carter was the first to cross the line for the Hokies with a time of 18:42.70.
Next for the Hokies were Daniel Rau (18:53.70), Ashkan Mohammadi (18:54.50) and Brent Musselman (19:00.30). They finished in 3rd, 4th, and 5th, places, respectively.
In the women’s 4K race, Amanda Smith finished in first place with a time of 14:11.90. Competing unattached, Tessa Riley finished in second with a time of 14:16.50. Abigail Motley (14:26.10) and Katie Kennedy (14:26.40) finished in 3rd and 4th places, respectively.
The Hokies are back in action next Friday at the NCAA Southeast Regional hosted by Louisville.
