Hokies head to compete at Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic
No. 28 women look to improve ranking against nation's elite

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Virginia Tech men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete in their second meet of the season at the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic on Saturday morning.

A total of 125 colleges and universities will compete. A total of 24 men's teams and 27 women's teams that are currently ranked in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Div- I Regional & National, NCAA Div. II National and NCAA Div. III National Cross Country Polls this season.

In the most recent USTFCCCA Division I Cross Country Poll, the Hokie women are ranked 28th while the men are receiving votes. Regionally, the women and the men are ranked sixth in the polls.

The last time the Hokies competed was when Tech played host for the VT Alumni Invite. The women finished in third while the men finished in fifth. Sarah Rapp was the top finisher for the women while Neil Gourley was the top finisher for the men.

The first men's event begins at 9:30 a.m. while the women's event begins at 10:15 a.m. in E.P. Tom Sawyer Park. Events will continue until 1:45 p.m. with the women's silver race.
