Tech baseball announces September 6 date for walk-on tryouts
Interested students must be medically cleared by athletic trainer to participate

BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech baseball program has announced the date of Wednesday, September 6 at 4 p.m. at English Field at Union Park as an opportunity for interested students to try out for a couple walk-on spots on the 2018 Hokies’ roster.
Any players who are looking to participate in the tryout must first be cleared medically by Tech’s baseball athletic trainer Brett Griesemer before taking part. This is MANDATORY and information regarding the medical clearance can be viewed here -- LINK TO PDF.
Briefly what is needed:
- All three forms (above in PDF) completed and submitted to Brett
- Meet with Brett to do a cardiac/prior medical history screen
- Provide Brett with proof of health insurance
- Provide/obtain sickle cell trait test results and submit to Brett
Students are asked to please email Brett (bgriese@vt.edu) to set up an appointment for anything related to the medical clearance.
Participants who have been cleared should expect a full baseball workout and bring all necessary equipment – including but not limited to cleats, glove, bat, helmet – and should be dressed in baseball pants and a hat.
