GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Boston College’s Chris Shaw and Virginia Tech’s Sean Keselica have been voted as ACC Baseball Player and Pitcher of the week, respectively.

Keselica picked up his third ACC win of the season as the Hokies defeated the No. 7 Florida State in Tallahassee, 8-3, his second win over a top-10 program this season. After allowing one run in the first and a one-out solo home run in the second, Keselica surrendered just one hit over the final 5.2 innings he was on the mound. At one point, he retired nine in a row and faced one over the minimum after back-to-back walks that led off the third. After the solo home run, no Seminole reached third base during his time on the mound.

A native of Glen Gardner, New Jersey, Keselica became the second Virginia Tech pitcher to post a 3-0 record (Mathew Price, 2010) after four weeks of ACC competition. He is tied for the most wins in ACC play and has thrown the most innings (30). He also struck out a career-high tying nine batters in the win, his second straight week with nine.

Keselica has won four of his last six starts on the mound (win two no decisions) and owns a 1.50 ERA in that span. This is the second weekly honor for Keselica, who was also recognized following his performance against then-No. 1 Virginia.

He now joins former Tech pitchers Justin Wright (March 29 and April 5, 2010) and Ryan Kennedy (Feb. 21 and May 2, 2005) as two-time ACC Pitcher of the Week honorees. Wright actually picked up three receiving his first on April 27, 2009. This trio actually accounts for all seven ACC Pitcher of the Week honors Tech has gotten over the years.

Shaw led the Eagles to a perfect 5-0 week, including a weekend sweep of Duke. In two midweek games at Northeastern and against Holy Cross, the junior outfielder was 5-for-9 with seven RBIs and four extra-base hits. Against the Blue Devils, he scored in all three games, drove in four runs, and hit his first career walk-off home run on Saturday. For the week, Shaw led the Eagles with 11 RBIs, nine hits, and a 1.000 slugging percentage in the five games. He drove in the game-winning run in three of the five wins.

For the season, the native of Lexington, Massachusetts, is tied for fourth in the league with seven home runs and is fourth with 31 RBIs.

The Hokies are back in action for a midweek game on Tuesday when they welcome VMI to Blacksburg for Military Appreciate Day at English Field. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Over the weekend, Tech faces Georgia Tech in a three-game ACC series starting Friday at 5:30 p.m.
