BLACKSBURG – As part of its 19 Ways initiative, the Virginia Tech baseball team will be collecting children’s books for Herma’s Readers at the baseball game versus Duke this Saturday, April 19 at English Field. Fans attending the game Saturday are encouraged to bring a book for donation.
Herma’s Readers is a non-profit organization that promotes the power of reading and literacy to youngsters during their formative years, grades K-3.
In addition to the Herma’s Readers collection on Saturday, fans are invited to participate in a number of other activities at English Field. Starting at 1:15 p.m., there will be a pre-game HokieBird Egg Hunt for children 12 and under. Following the game, fans are encouraged to stay for the inaugural “Guns and Hoses” charity softball game between Montgomery County firefighters and law enforcement benefiting the Special Olympics of Virginia.
First pitch on Saturday in this ACC match-up between the Hokies and Blue Devils will be at 2 p.m. Tech will open its three-game series with Duke on Friday at 5:30 p.m. As always, admission to English Field is free of charge.
