BLACKSBURG, Va. - Following a successful 2013 season which has brought him numerous honors, Tyler Horan has just added another as the outfielder has earned a spot on the ABCA Rawlings NCAA Division I All-Atlantic Region Second Team, announced by the American Baseball Coaches Association on Monday.

During the year, Horan led the Hokies with a .342 average with 88 hits, which tied for the fifth-most in a single season at the school in a single-season Tech record 257 at bats. He hit 26 doubles (second-most all-time), four triples and tied for the team-lead with 11 home runs. His 155 total bases and .603 slugging percentage also led the team.

He was one of three Hokies to start in every game this year and his performances earned him an All-ACC First Team selection, an NCAA Blacksburg Regional All-Tournament team selection and a Second Team Louisville Slugger All-American pick, just the 15th All-American at the school in baseball.

During the year, he was also named a Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week after a weekend that saw him smack four home runs in a pair of wins over Marist. That effort pushed his home run total to 10, as he became the first player since Brad Bauder in 2002 to reach double figures in homers in back-to-back seasons.

The redshirt-junior was just recently drafted in the 2013 MLB First-Year Player Draft as the 252nd overall pick, chosen in the eighth round by the San Francisco Giants. He became the 14th highest Hokie ever chosen in the MLB draft.

With just a handful of games left in the college baseball season, among the nation's leaders entering today, Horan was 180th in batting average, 39th in runs scored, 75th in runs per game, 26th in hits, fourth in doubles, 11th in doubles per game, 46th in home runs, 67th in home runs per game, 101st in RBI, 42nd in slugging, and 10th in total bases.
