BLACKSBURG, Va. - Virginia Tech outfielder Tyler Horan was named a Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week by the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper after a weekend that saw him belt four home runs in a pair of wins over Marist.

Horan hit three two-run home runs and a solo shot in two games against the Red Foxes, while also collecting three doubles during the week to post a 1.692 slugging percentage. His weekend included a career-high tying four-hit game against the Red Foxes on Saturday, with a career-high tying two doubles and two home runs, which he hit in back-to-back at-bats. He was intentionally walked with two outs in a one-run game in the eighth.

He smacked a pair of two-run home runs in back-to-back at-bats in Sunday’s game, giving him 10 total home runs for the season and his third career multi-HR game. He became the first Hokie to reach double figures in home runs in back-to-back seasons since Brad Bauder did it in 2002 and 2003.

Horan currently leads the Hokies with a .332 batting average , 72 hits, 20 doubles, 10 home runs, 130 total bases and a .599 slugging percentage in 52 starts this season.

There were a total of four baseball players named National Players of the Week and included two pitchers - RHP Casey Delgado of Austin Peay State, who struck out a school record 16 batters and LHP Harrison Musgrave of West Virginia, who struck out a career-high 14 in a complete game shutout - and one other position player - Florida State's D.J. Stewart, who had nine hits, nine RBI and nine runs scored.
