BLACKSBURG - Tech alums Franklin Stubbs and Brad Clontz, the only two former baseball players that won World Series rings, were the honored guests at the Hokies' sixth annual Baseball Night in Blacksburg, held Friday evening in the West Side Stadium Club of Lane Stadium.

After touring the baseball facilities and stopping by practice, the two men went to the event and chatted with guests, spoke with the media, and then partook in a Q&A session with Mike Burnop serving as the MC.

Questions ranged from what was it like to play for such a legendary coach (Tommy Lasorda for Stubbs and Bobby Cox for Clontz) and who was their favorite teammate to more current topics such as what advice they would give the 2013 Hokies and their thoughts on the steroid age and the Hall of Fame.

All proceeds of the banquet will go to Virginia Tech baseball and the Hokies’ efforts to improve various aspects of their program. The team opens its 2013 season next week with a four-game weekend in UNC Wilmington (click here for schedule).
