Baseball to hold 'First Responders Day' Saturday
Hokies to host 'Thank You' BBQ for First Responders & Run for 32 participants

Blacksburg, Va. – The Virginia Tech baseball team will honor Virginia Tech first responders, local police officers, firefighters, rescue and medical personnel when it plays host to the University of Miami this Saturday at 2 p.m.

It’s ‘First Responders Day’ at English Field and all local service workers are invited to come out to the ballpark and the first 500 fans at the game receive a free VT tumbler cup.

Following the Run for 32, in conjunction with Virginia Tech Rec Sports and the Virginia Tech Alumni Association, the Hokies will host a pregame ‘Thank You’ BBQ beginning at 12:30 p.m., courtesy of Hethwood Market, PK’s Pizza, TOTS and Texas Roadhouse. Food is available on a first come, first serve basis. Runners should wear their 3.2 t-shirt or run bib to receive a free meal.

Former captain of Virginia Tech Rescue, Matt Johnson will throw out a ceremonial first pitch and all those who serve the community will be recognized throughout the game.

Admission to all Virginia Tech baseball games is free.
