As one of the Virginia Tech baseball program’s 19 Ways – the initiative set up by head coach Pete Hughes for his team to find 19 ways to make a difference – the Hokies will be participating in Micah’s Backpack, a program that helps address children’s hunger issues.
Fans attending this weekend’s games against Duke – Friday, March 23 through Sunday, March 25 – will be encouraged to bring food items to the game to help the baseball team pack as many backpacks as possible. The following link “How Can I Help” identifies specific items the food drive recommends.
Friday afternoons, 200 children at nine Blacksburg schools receive a gift of healthy food for six meals and snacks, filled by volunteers with the donations received from food drives like this weekend’s at English Field. Help the baseball team by supporting its program this weekend.
