BLACKSBURG, Va. - In voting conducted by the Virginia College Sports Information Directors (VaSID), redshirt-sophomore Andrew Rash was named to the University Division All-State Baseball First Team, the only Hokie selected to either the first or second teams.

Rash led Tech in batting (.335), home runs (18), RBI (53), total bases (135), slugging percentage (.707) and on-base percentage (.416) and was tied for the team lead with hit by pitch (10). He was second on the team in runs scored (49) and tied for second in doubles (17).

It has been quite a postseason for Rash, who adds this honor to his 2011 resumé. Rash was an All-ACC First Team member, an ACC All-Academic selection, a Major League Baseball 36th round draft choice, an ABCA/Rawlings All-Atlantic Region First Team member and competed in the TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby, in which he tied for fifth.

Virginia and James Madison ran away with the honors, putting a combined seven and five players respectively on the two teams. Those two also took home three of the top four major awards, with Cavaliers’ head coach Brian O’Connor earning Coach of the Year and junior pitcher Danny Hultzen named Pitcher of the Year. Jake Lowery, the Duke’s catcher, was chosen as the Player of the Year, while Bill Cullen of VCU was the Rookie of the Year. The complete teams follow below.
