On Friday, April 8, two tornados struck Pulaski County damaging over 400 homes, affecting an estimated 1,700 people and causing property damage estimated at almost $8.5 million.
In an effort to help those affected by the natural disaster that hit our New River Valley community, the Virginia Tech Athletics Department will sponsor a relief drive in conjunction with the Baseball versus FSU game on Sunday, April 17 and the Football Spring Game on Saturday, April 23. Fans attending the baseball game can drop-off monetary donations at the marketing gazebo and those attending the Spring Game can drop-off donations in collection buckets at the gates of Lane Stadium upon entry. All money collected will be donated directly to the Pulaski County Tornado Relief Fund to assist those families affected with their clean-up and rebuilding efforts. Our goal is to raise one dollar for every person in attendance at the game.
Fans unable to attend the game can still donate by mailing a check made payable to “Pulaski County Tornado Relief Drive” to Virginia Tech Sports Marketing, Attn:Tornado Relief Drive, 366 Jamerson Athletic Center, Blacksburg, VA 24061.
