Pinder delivers big hit in Grey 7-6 win
Hokie Fall World Series continues Friday at 7 p.m.

BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Freshman Chad Pinder hit a two-out, two-run single in the top of the sixth inning to propel the Grey team to a come-from-behind 7-6 win in Game one of the Hokie Fall World Series. The best-of-three affair is being played at English Field on the Virginia Tech campus.

Pinder (Poquoson, Va.) along with Zach MacAneney (Fr., Gibsonville, N.C.) and Chad Morgan (So., Springfield, Va.) led the Grey team with two hits each. Patrick Scoggin (So., Richmond, Va.) work six innings to pick up the win with Sean McDermott (Sr., Walpole, Mass.) working a perfect seventh to record the save.

Ronnie Shaban (Jr., Mosely, Va.), Gabe Ortiz (Jr., Panama City, Panama) and Johnny Morales (Jr., Bellflower, Calif.) led the White team with two hits each. Jake Joyce allowed two unearned runs in one inning of work to take the loss.

The series is not a best-of-three event – all three games will be played. Should the Greys win the second, the White team can still claim the series if it outscores the Greys in game three by more than the combined deficit that it lost by in the first two games.

Game two, another seven inning game, is scheduled for Friday night at 7 p.m., with Game 3 to be held on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Fans are welcome to come check out any of the three games, and admission is free.
