Novotna falls at NCAA Singles
Tech sophomore falters to Washington State's Bayerlova

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Virginia Tech’s Natalie Novotna fell in the opening round of the 2018 NCAA Women’s Singles Championship on Wednesday morning at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Novotna, ranked 49th, got out to an early lead on Washington State’s No. 23 Michaela Bayerlova and was up 3-0. The Cougars’ freshman answered to tie it up at 3. The two continued to battle it out the rest of the first set and were tied at 5 before Bayerlova held on to win it 7-5. In the second set, Novotna fell behind as Bayerlova secured the win 6-1.
The Tech sophomore wraps up the season with a 24-13 record.
