Novotna named All-ACC Second Team

Tech sophomore earns second consecutive all-league honor

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Virginia Tech women’s tennis sophomore Natalie Novotna has been named to the 2018 All-ACC Second Team list as selected by the league’s head coaches and announced Thursday.

Novotna earns her second consecutive nod to the All-ACC team after earning third team recognition as a freshman. She has been ranked for the Hokies throughout the season, and is currently 49th in the standings released today by the ITA.

The Czech Republic native, has posted a 16-10 record at the one this spring and recently knocked off the nation’s No. 19 Carla Touly in straight sets (6-0, 6-4) to help the Hokies to a 4-3 upset of No. 17 Florida State in the second round of the ACC Championships. In total, Novotna has tallied six wins over ranked opponents this past year.

Novotna earned an at-large bid at the NCAA Women’s Singles Championship and will begin competition on May 23 at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
