Tech set for 2018 ACC Women's Tennis Championship

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The 13th-seeded Virginia Tech women’s tennis team is set to square off against 12th-seeded Louisville on Wednesday April 25 at 9 a.m. at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, North Carolina.

Virginia Tech opens the tournament facing Louisville. The Cardinals edged Tech 4-3 in Louisville during the regular season. The Hokies claimed the doubles point off wins from Katherine Butler/Natalie Novotna on court two and the freshman pair of Nika Kozar and Nina Sorkin.

The Hokies claimed singles wins from Novotna and Sorkin, but the Cardinals were able to claim six of the singles contests to secure the win.

Novotna has tallied 14 wins this spring to lead Tech at the No. 1 spot. Sorkin is adding a 13-8 tally while Kozar and Caroline Daxhelet are both 12-10.

Louisville is on an eight-match slide to end the season and most recently dropped a 4-0 decision to Florida State. Abbie Pahz is 12-7 on the spring while Mariana Humberg is 11-10. Raven Neely is adding a 13-9 mark.

The winning team advances to face No. 5 seed Florida State on Thursday at 9 a.m.
