Hokies travel to the Sunshine State to take on No. 18 Florida State, No. 16 Miami

BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team hits the road to Tallahassee, Florida with a matchup against No. 18 Florida State. The contest is set for Friday, April 13 at 2 p.m. from Scott Speicher Tennis Center. Tech will then face No. 16 Miami on Sunday, April 15 in an 11 a.m. match at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center in Coral Gables, Florida.

THE HOKIES (12-7, 3-7 ACC)
The Hokies fell to No. 20 Virginia 6-1 on Saturday in the Commonwealth Clash. Tech dropped five out of the six singles matches with Katherine Butler being the lone singles winner. Nika Kozar and Nina Sorkin won doubles on court three, but the Cavaliers claimed the other two matches.

Novotna is ranked 62nd in the ITA standings with an overall record of 22-7. Kozar and Sorkin now have a doubles record of 14-6, and both have an overall record of 18-6.

THE SEMINOLES (14-7, 6-5 ACC)
The 19th-ranked Florida State women’s tennis team enters the match with Tech on a three-match win streak with victories over Virginia, Syracuse and Boston College. The Seminoles most recently defeated Boston College 5-2 on Sunday. Florida State won all three doubles matches, and four out of six singles matches against the Eagles as Petra Hule, Nandinia Das, Ariana Rahmanparast and Andrea Garcia had wins.

FSU sophomore Carly Touly enters the Friday contest ranked 21st in the ITA standings. Seminoles freshman Hule moved up 12 spots to No. 97 in the ITA standings. Hule is joined by teammate Garcia in the doubles’ standings at No. 56. The Seminoles’ duo of Touley and Rahmanparast is 63rd.

THE HURRICANES (12-6, 8-3 ACC)
The 16th-ranked Miami women’s tennis team is coming off of a 7-0 victory over No. 25 Syracuse on Sunday. The Hurricanes won all six singles matches and went two out of three in doubles.

Miami sophomore Estela Perez-Somarriba enters the weekend ranked third nationally while Sinead Lohan is No. 64. Perez-Somarriba is joined by Ana Madcur at 38th in the doubles standings while Madcur and Lohan hold a ranking of 77th. Perez-Somarriba is also ranked with Daniella Roldan at 78th. Dominika Paterova and Ulyana Shirokova are 88th.

UP NEXT – The Hokies will return home to face off against second-ranked Georgia Tech on Friday, April 20 at 3 p.m. at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
