Tech hosts doubleheader versus Liberty, Radford

BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team is set to host a doubleheader as Liberty and Radford come to the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center on Saturday, Feb. 17.

THE HOKIES (4-0, 0-0 ACC)
Virginia Tech defeated Marshall 6-1 last weekend. The Hokies took the doubles point and claimed five singles matches as Caroline Daxhelet, Elena Cerezo-Codina, Nika Kozar, Katherine Butler and Nina Sorkin picked up wins. Sophomore Natalie Novotna enters the weekend ranked 34th in the ITA singles standings and has a 3-1 record this season. Butler is undefeated at 4-0 while Cerezo-Codina and Kozar are both 3-0.

THE FLAMES (4-3, 0-0 Big South)
Liberty swept Troy and Shaw last weekend, securing the 7-0 wins in a doubleheader. Leading the Flames is Ashley Bongart with a 4-1 tally on the spring. Polina Miroshnichenko is 4-2 while Rebekah Anderson and Anna Dollar are both 3-1.

THE HIGHLANDERS (3-1, 0-0 Big South)
Radford defeated West Virginia State 6-1 the last time out. The Highlanders secured the doubles point and recorded singles wins from Drousile Dzeubou, Lotti Meszaros, Tyler Blalock, Jeanine Acierto and Zoe Fraser. Radford and Tech both faced Missouri this season with the Hokies winning 4-2 while the Highlanders fell 0-4. Dzeubou and Mezaros are both 3-1 on the season.

Up Next: The Hokies will host Wisconsin at 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 23 before opening ACC play on Saturday, Feb. 24 against Clemson at 1 p.m.
