Novotna to compete in ITA Fall National Championships

BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech sophomore Natalie Novotna will represent the Hokies’ women’s tennis team in the 2017 ITA Fall National Championships beginning Nov. 1 in California.
The event will be held at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden and the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa.
Novotna, ranked 56th, claimed the title at the ITA Atlantic Regional on Oct. 17 to qualify for the national event. During the regional, Novotna claimed six consecutive wins en route to the finals where she defeated 34th-ranked Rosie Johanson of UVA.
Novotna will face Loyola Marymount’s Veronica Miroshnichenko in the opening round. Miroshnichenko is tabbed as 10th on the ITA’s newcomer list for 2017-18.
The matches are set to begin at 8 a.m. PT (11 a.m. ET) with Novotna scheduled to compete at the JW Marriott site.
