Hokies wrap up Wofford Invite

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team wrapped up competition at the Wofford Invite on Saturday evening in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Nina Sorkin, Nancy Ghanem and Fallon Delp concluded play on Saturday at the Wofford Invite. Sorkin fell in the finals of the Gold singles to ETSU’s Alory Pereira, 6-1, 6-4.

In the Wofford singles, Ghanem faltered at the hands of Emory’s Bridget Harding. The Eagles’ player held on in the opening set against Ghanem to win in the tiebreak 7-6(5). In the second set, Ghanem fell 6-4.

Fallon Delp paired up with Georgia Southern's Arianne de Winter for doubles over the weekend. The pair fell to Wofford's Lauren Reid and Brittney Wilbur in a close 7-5 decision in the semifinals of the Gray doubles. In the third place match, the pair defeated USC Upstate's Taylor Dodd and Vale Zarama 6-1.

The Hokies will return to the court next week, competing at three events beginning Nov. 1 with the ITA National Fall Championships. Tech will host the Hokie Fall Inviteand participate in the Lakewood Ranch Claycourt, Nov. 3-5.
