WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. –Virginia Tech women’s tennis sophomore McKenzie Collins finished as runner-up in the G1 singles on Sunday during the final day of the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

McKenzie Collins battled in the finals of G1 flight against UNC Asheville’s Emily Sidor. Collins won the opening set 6-4, but Sidor came back to win the second 6-3. In the super tiebreak, Sidor outlasted Collins to win it 13-11.

Katherine Butler picked up the win in the C2 singles to finish seventh, defeating Davidson’s Samantha Armas 6-3, 6-3.

Tech will be back in action Oct. 13-17 when the Hokies host the ITA Atlantic Regional at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
