MALIBU, Calif. – Virginia Tech women’s tennis’ Elena Cerezo-Codina moves into the final round of the ITA All-American prequalifying round on Saturday in Malibu, California.

Cerezo-Codina downed Texas’ Marta Perez-Mur in a tough three-set match. The Tech player won the opening set in a tiebreak 7-6(2) before falling in the second 4-6. In the final set, Cerezo-Codina rallied to take it 6-4.

In the second round, Cerezo-Codina knocked off 81st-ranked Sofia Blanco of Oklahoma State, picking up the 7-6(7), 6-4 win.

Tech will return to action on Sunday at the All-American event.
