Tech wraps competition at Big 5 Challenge
Hokies back on the court at ITA All American Championships

FORT WORTH, Texas - The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team closed out the third and final day of the Big 5 Challenge on Sunday in Fort Worth, Texas. The Hokies battled against challenging opponents from four different schools in competition at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center at TCU.
In singles, Caroline Daxhelet put up a tough fight against Arizona State’s #67 Kelly Anderson, but ultimately fell short. Daxhelet lost the first set 1-6, but rallied back to take the second set with a score of 7-6. The match then went to a super tiebreak with Anderson securing the win by a score of 10-3.
Katherine Butler and Nina Sorkin played a hard-fought doubles match against Georgia’s Vivian Wolff and Marta Gonzalez. The duo entered strong and was tied with the Bulldogs’ tandem at 5-5, but Wolff and Gonzalez picked up the win with a score of 7-5.
The Hokies will be back in action at the ITA All American Championships which begin next weekend.
