Three Hokies remain in the Oracle/ITA National Rankings
Natalie Novotna and Francesca Fusinato check in at No. 95 and No. 96, respectively, while Caroline Daxhelet and Fusinato move up three spots in the doubles poll

BLACKSBURG – Senior Francesca Fusinato, junior Caroline Daxhelet and freshman Natalie Novotna of the Virginia Tech women’s tennis team remain inside this week’s Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Collegiate Tennis Women’s Division I National Rankings, released on Tuesday afternoon.

Novotna moves up nine spots to No. 95 in this week’s ITA top-125 singles poll. The Vysoka nad Labem, Czech Republic, native holds a team-best 14-4 mark, primarily playing at the No. 2 position. Of note, Novotna boasts a 5-4 dual-match record on court two, a 6-0 record on court three and a 3-0 record on court four.
Fusinato also checks in at No. 96 in this week’s ITA top-125 singles poll. The Feltre Belluno, Italy, native has topped a total of six ranked opponents this season and has won four of her last five singles matches at the No. 1 slot.
Both Fusinato and Novotna went 1-1 in singles play last weekend, helping Tech to its second Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) win of the season over Pitt on April 9.
Additionally, Fusinato and Daxhelet jumps three spots to No. 52 in this week’s ITA top-90 doubles poll. The Hokie duo boasts a 4-4 mark on the year, playing primarily at the No. 1 slot. The doubles tandem have upset two top-35 opponents since March 12, most recently taking down Duke’s then-No. 26 Meible Chi and Kaitlyn McCarthy on March 26.
Last week, Tech played its final regular-season road match of the year, rolling to a 5-2 win over Pittsburgh in ACC action on April 9. The Hokies won their second ACC match of the season despite losing the doubles point. In singles play, Tech got wins from Elena Cerezo-Codina, Fusinato, Novotna and Daxhelet in the top four spots to seal the win. Sansitha Nandakumar also added the final point with a straight set victory at the No. 6 spot.
Looking ahead, the Hokies (9-10, 2-8 ACC) will return home and embark on a four-match homestand to close out the regular season starting with Syracuse on Thursday, April 13 at 11 a.m. Tech will then take on No. 25 N.C. State in a Saturday afternoon matchup on April 15. The contest is slated to begin at 3 p.m.
