Last season, Virginia Tech (7-5, 0-3 ACC) dropped a 5-2 match vs. Wake Forest (11-4, 2-2 ACC) in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Of note, the Demon Deacons hold a 26-6 all-time series advantage over the Hokies.
In its last weekend of competition, Tech dropped a hard-fought battle at Clemson, ultimately falling by a score of 4-3. Francecsa Fusinato, Natalie Novotna and Sansitha Nandakumar each recorded singles wins in the loss. In addition, Fusinato and Caroline Daxhelet paired up at the No. 1 slot to record Tech’s lone doubles victory of the day, upsetting Clemson’s No. 35 Ayan Broomfield and Marie Leduc.
Fusinato ranks No. 93 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) top-100 poll, boasting a 9-3 record at the No. 1 position. The Feltre Belluno, Italy, native has won five of her last six matches, upsetting three ranked opponents in the process.
