BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team picked up its second win of the day and the season as the Hokies downed ETSU 5-2 on Saturday afternoon at Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.

Tech opened the match winning the doubles point. Tech’s duo of Sansitha Nandakumar paired up with Luisa Uscocovich on court three to defeat Jayde Viccars and Melissa Esguerra 6-2. The Hokies secured the point in the No. 1 with Elena Cerezo-Codina and Caroline Daxhelet knocked off Marina Guinart and Ioanna Markesini, 6-3.

The Hokies took a 2-0 lead with Francesca Fusinato defeating No. 95 Markesini, 6-1, 6-1 on court one. Tech went up 3-0 with Nancy Ghanem’s 6-2, 6-0 victory over Viccars in the six. Virginia Tech secured the match on court three where Natalie Novotna defeated Alory Pereira with straight set scores of 6-3, 6-0.

Tech will be back on the court Friday, Jan. 27 at Vanderbilt.
