Catching up with Sarah Baron

BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team boasts a roster of talented, skilled and interesting student-athletes. In an effort to learn more about their lives on and off the court, HokieSports.com will interview select Virginia Tech women’s tennis players each week.

This week, we sat down with junior Sarah Baron.

What differences are there from your hometown to Blacksburg?

Sarah Baron: In Orlando everything is open all the time, but places close really early in Blacksburg.

Where are your favorite spots to go on campus?

SB: I like to go to the Duck Pond. I find it relaxing.

What got you involved with tennis?

SB: My Dad got me involved in tennis after he saw that I was good at bad mitten one day.

If you could play another sport, what would it be? Why?

SB: I wish I could do gymnastics. I think that sport is so amazing, physically.

How has your time been as a Hokie so far?

SB: My time as a Hokie has been great. I love my teammates, coaches and the atmosphere.

What’s your favorite tennis memory?

SB: My favorite tennis memory is listening to Billie Jean King speak at the National Hard Courts in San Diego, California.

What has tennis done for you?

SB: Tennis has given me the chance to grow as a person and overcome challenges. It has also brought some great people into my life.
