Hokies split for Louisville Tennis Classic, Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic

BLACKSBURG - Following an impressive showing at the 2016 Hokie Fall Invitational last weekend, the Virginia Tech women’s tennis team will split this weekend, capping its fall season at the 2016 Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic and the Louisville Tennis Classic from Nov. 4-6.

The Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic is held at the Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club, in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, and the Louisville Tennis Classic takes place at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center, in Louisville, Kentucky.

“I am excited for our team to compete in these last two events of the fall season,” said coach Terry Ann Zawacki-Woods. “Throughout each tournament thus far, we have seen many positives, and our goal is to finish strong in our individual games as well as an overall team. I have been happy to see our team show improvement from match-to-match, and I am looking forward to a great effort from each of them this weekend.”

Tech will send four Hokies to the Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic: senior Francesca Fusinato, juniors Elena Cerezo-Codina and Caroline Daxhelet and freshman Natalie Novotna.

Eight student-athletes also will compete at the Louisville Tennis Classic: senior Sansitha Nandakumar, juniors Katherine Butler, Sarah Baron and Sloan Barton, sophomore Emily Pence and freshmen Nancy Ghanem, Luisa Uscocovich, McKenzie Collins and Fallon Delp.
