Two Hokies named to All-ACC Academic team
Fusinato, Kahoun honored

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Freshman Francesca Fusinato and junior Carol Kahoun were named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Academic Team, as announced Wednesday by Commissioner John Swofford. This is the first of such honors for both student-athletes. Clemson senior Yana Koroleva was named the ACC Women’s Tennis Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Fusinato finished her collegiate debut with a 12-5 dual record, going 8-2 from the top spot. The Feltre, Belluno, Itlay native got out to a hot start for Tech, winning eight of her first nine matches. She finished the season ranked 120 in the nation and No. 8 in the Atlantic Region. A university studies major, Fusinato has also earned third team All-ACC and VaSID All-State honors this post season.

Kahoun wrapped up her junior season picking up eight wins in dual action, including four from the No. 6 spot. The Visp, Switzerland native knocked off the No. 56 player in the nation when the Hokies took on NC State and she helped her team for victories over a pair of ranked teams early in the year. A human nutrition, food and exercise major, Kahoun was also the recipient of the Atlantic Region ITA/ Arthur Ashe, Jr. Award for sportsmanship and leadership.
