BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The No. 60 Virginia Tech women's tennis team will travel to No. 15 Miami and No. 44 Florida State for its final matches of the 2014 season.
The Hokies (12-10, 4-8 ACC) split last weekend's matches. Tech fell to Notre Dame 7-0 on Friday in South Bend, Ind., but bounced back to top then-No. 44 Boston College 6-1 on senior day at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
Tech jumped from No. 64 to No. 60 in this week's ITA rankings after the win over Boston College. Ilinca Stoica (No. 78) and Francesca Fusinato (No. 109) stayed in the ITA rankings this week, as well.
Tech will face Miami on Friday. The Hurricanes (16-4, 10-2 ACC) bring a No. 15 ranking to the weekend. Miami is led by No. 36 Stephanie Wagner and No. 62 Kelsey Laurente. The Hurricanes went 2-0 last weekend as they topped both Clemson and in-state rival Florida State.
Florida State (13-10, 5-7 ACC) checked in at No. 44 in this week's ITA rankings. The Seminoles have only one ranked singles player in No. 117 Kerrie Cartwright. Florida State tallied two wins and a loss last weekend. Wins came over Pittsburgh and Florida A&M, while Miami handed the Seminoles a loss.
The Hokies take on Miami on Friday before heading to Tallahassee to take on Florida State on Sunday.
