BLACKSBURG, Va. — The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team defeated Radford 5-0 on Sunday evening in the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
The match consisted of only one doubles match and four singles matches that were all played at the same time.
Carol Kahoun scored the first point for Tech with her 6-1, 6-2 win in the No. 4 slot over Meg Napolitano. The doubles team was not far behind Kahoun. Tea Ivanovic teamed up with Sansitha Nandakumar to win the lone doubles match 6-2, 6-1 and give the Hokies a 2-0 lead.
Raluca Mita clinched the team victory for Tech with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Grace Sarver at No. 3. Francesca Fusinato added to the Hokie effort with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Gemma Valls at No. 1. Kelly Williford rounded out the day as she topped Taylor Newman 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2.
The Hokies return to action on Friday, Feb. 28 as they travel to Syracuse for their first ACC match with the Orange at 2 p.m.
