BLACKSBURG, Va. -- The Virginia Tech women’s tennis team will host the Hokie Fall Invite this weekend at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center. Play begins Friday and continues through Sunday with three singles and two doubles flights.
James Madison, Liberty, Radford and Virginia Commonwealth make up the Virginia schools participating in the tournament, while Marshall and ACC-newcomer Pittsburgh also make the trip to Blacksburg.
Sophomore Raluca Mita will lead the Hokies this weekend as she opens up the fall season ranked No. 121 in the ITA’s preseason rankings. Mita will play in Flight A singles along with senior Isel Martinez-Marcos.
Junior Carol Kahoun and senior Tea Ivanovic will represent Tech in Flight B singles play, while sophomores Laura Ramthun and Frances Peyton round out the Hokies’ singles effort as they compete in Flight C.
Tech will be represented in both doubles flights, as well. Ivanovic and Martinez-Marcos, and Kahoun and Mita will pair up in Flight A doubles. Peyton and Ramthun will be the lone Hokie team in Flight B doubles.
Peyton and Ramthun are the only Hokies to compete for the second time this fall after they made the trip to Liberty on September 14.
Tech will travel to New Haven, Conn. for the Bulldog Classic on October 4-6 for their next fall tournament.
