Ivanovic, Stoica named to All-ACC Academic team
Pair honored for the first time

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Junior Tea Ivanovic and freshman Ilinca Stoica of Virginia Tech’s women’s tennis team were named to the 2013 Women’s Tennis All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Team, as announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon. This is the first of such honors for both student-athletes. Clemson’s Yana Koroleva was named ACC Women’s Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Ivanovic wrapped up her third season at Tech with a 16-7 dual record; going 13-6 from the No. 6 singles spot this season. She began her junior outing winning her first six matches of the year.

Stoica remained steady in the No.1 spot of the Hokies in her dual debut and finished the year with a 13-11 record, including a pair of victories over top-85 opponents. By the end of the season Stoica was ranked No. 8 in the Atlantic Region while also boasting a No. 6 regional ranking when teaming up with classmate Kelly Williford in doubles action. Stoica also earned All-ACC honors earlier this post season.
