
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Freshman Ilinca Stoica was named to the 2013 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Team, as announced by the conference office Wednesday afternoon. This is the first honor of the season for Stoica who has led the Hokies all season in the No. 1 singles and doubles spot.
Heading into Thursday’s ACC Tournament, Stoica broke into the national rankings this week, sitting at No. 125.The Piatra Neamt, Romania native has put together a 13-10 singles record with all but one of those contests being played at the No. 1 spot, and knocked off two top 55 opponents in her first collegiate season. In doubles action, Stoica has teamed up with classmate Kelly Williford all season and the pair posted a 16-13 record playing in the top spot.
Stoica at the No. 69 Hokies will face No. 14 Duke in the first round of the ACC Tournament Thursday, April 25 at 3 p.m. at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.
